Treble Me This By Guy Nicholls

Harmonizing Chaos!

“In Treble Me This,” Guy Nicholls skillfully directs a captivating murder mystery that unfolds across three separate crime scenes.

Through the intricate narrative tapestry he weaves, Nicholls showcases his directorial prowess, engaging the audience from the very beginning.

In his sixth short film, Nicholls demonstrates his ability to maintain intrigue and suspense throughout. The first act, in particular, stands out as exceptionally intriguing, drawing viewers into a web of mystery that promises a unique cinematic experience.

The brilliance of the screenplay lies in its power to connect seemingly related small stories. Nicholls skillfully unveils the interwoven threads, revealing subtle connections that bind the characters and events together. This technique adds depth to the narrative, leaving the audience guessing and engaged.

The synergy between the cast members is a notable strength of the film. The ensemble’s performance allows viewers to immerse themselves in the story’s mood and appreciate the nuances of each character. Christian Dapp’s portrayal of “Frank Winters” is outstanding, capturing the mysterious nature of the character with his calm and non-talkative demeanor. Lennon Widdows also skillfully handles the role of Bill, adding layers to the unfolding mystery.

The color palette employed in “Treble Me This” evokes elements of the classical thriller “Reservoir Dogs,” creating a mood that complements Nicholls’ signature style.

The visual elements enhance the overall atmosphere of the film, contributing to its cinematic appeal.

The film’s music composer and sound designer, Tom Jeeves, takes a bold approach to the audio track, using minimal music to allow moments of calmness to heighten the thrilling mood. The introduction of a controversial light music track at the beginning of the first act adds an out-of-the-box element to the audio experience, creating a unique and memorable impact.

“Meticulously crafted” is an apt descriptor for “Treble Me This.” The film offers a fresh perspective on the thriller genre, combining a compelling storyline, strong performances, and innovative audio-visual elements. Guy Nicholls’ ability to harmonize disparate elements into a cohesive and captivating narrative sets “Treble Me This” apart in the realm of short films, leaving audiences eagerly anticipating Nicholls’ future projects.
